:Design 1070 was a series of proposed plans made for the potential construction of locally built battlecruisers for the New Silesian Navy, which was as of the late 2160s beginning to seek replacements for its aging flotilla of system defense ships. Designed with the perceived threat of rising colonial nationalism beyond the arms as well as the continued need for heavy warships to guard the entrance of the Silesian Corridor against further incursions, these ships would have been amongst the largest military vessels ever constructed outside of Sol at that time had they been built. The project's sheer ambition was its own downfall, as budgetary concerns as well as engineering difficulties led to its cancellation before it moved beyond the planning stages. |
