Name: Mari Schwartzschild
Concept: Maid turned military prodigy/moe optimisation exercise/Kallen + Sayoko
For generations the Schwartzschild family have been servants to the House of Wendine. Mari Schwartzschild was no exception, traditionally brought up to respect and serve her betters and be loyal to a fault. But she couldn’t do a thing when the Otoran soldiers came and smashed open the doors to the palace, filling it with screams, harsh foreign shouting and gunfire as she cowered in a hidden cranny. Then days later, after she had escaped onto the streets, she watched on the giant public screen the execution of the Wendine royalty. And then it was over. There was nothing left of the family she had given the few years of her life to.
These events were the catalyst for her transformation. She happened upon and stayed with a cell of the resistance, first doing menial work but then discovering and relentlessly training her conveniently latent talents in Knightmare, infantry and covert operations. She thinks little of how to rebuild Wendin – with the royal family dead, there is no Wendin to rebuild – and is instead driven solely by a desire to obliterate the Otorans and avenge her nation and lord. However she always attempts to conceal her feelings under an air of appropriate reserve and composure, like her long-lost parents would have expected of her, and feels a vague sense of guilt that her vocation is so far from her family’s traditions.
