The Principality of Petra
The Principality of Petra is a small state that lies deep within the Empty Quarter, a cold and desolate region on the furthest outskirts of inhabited space. A former backwater outpost of the now largely defunct Belkar Empire, it has after the fall of the Corinn Dynasty and the destruction of the General War become the last haven for one faction of that ruined state's aristocracy and military leadership. With a population swollen by refugees and migrants, Petra has grown immensely over the past few decades from a few ancient scattered towns into a thriving enclave of modern civilization out in the icy twilight.
