When facing an enemy shaping effect, Apis rolls (Essence + Willpower) against a difficulty of the enemy's Essence. On a failure, a layer is shattered, and on a botch, all layers are shattered. In either case, the shaping effect fails to take hold and the charm can be reflexively reactivated. At Essence 4, the character may not be tested by the powers of Pure Chaos more than once per hour.
