Faster Than Light travel is a exploit that can be carried out by most anybody with TL3.8 technological level, granted this would reduce the available options of 'what' can be utilized to one, a drive that moves at light speed itself. (Further referenced as "FTL I*i" there the * refers to a level of research in that 'basic catagory of FTL advancement.)

FTL is described simply as FTL(Capital Roman Numeral)(advancement level as a arabic numeral)(letter for specific interlevel advancement)

First, lets talk about the three types of related FTL drive available for research along the FTL path of research.

I) Drive type I is between (for the various advancement levels of Drive type I) 1c and 50c. A very slow drive type that prevents much expansion, but is very suited for quick colonization efforts compared to generation ship technologies (.85c or greater.)
