Midoriko was originally settled as a joint American-Japanese venture, under the pioneer program. However with the Yellowstone disaster and the subsequent coup (according to Americans) of the Japanese government, American forces from New America moved to establish control of the island. After a period of military rule as a US Mandate, Midoriko transitioned to civilian homeland rule for the inhabitants of Midoriko as a democracy and with the assistance of the United States has made strenuous efforts to resettle refugees and Japanese asylum seekers.

United States Mandate of Praetoria (Santa Maria) (Two Entanglements, West Praetoria and East Praetoria)

The United States Mandate of Praetoria consists of two occupation zones, West and East Praetoria. The Praetorians are undergoing a fifteen year process of integration into the United States of America an independent Commonwealth.
Praetoria emerged from a multi-national colonial endeavor backed by a joint venture between biotech and agri corporations. The location of Santa Maria, situated at a relative distance from the core, provided an opportunity to operate without substantial oversight from UN agencies. With A Quasi-Corporate Government, it was implicated in the 2310s in a number of human rights abuses. These including transgenic experiments, mass gestation of people's genetic material via exowombs without permission and allegations of modern slavery of forcibly transgenetically altered people, Praetoria's government was overthrow by the United States in 2314 during Operation 'Hangman'. Due to the size of Praetoria, it is currently divided into two zones of occupation.

An American Pioneer colony, Polis is a direct democracy where every citizen is given the option to have a man-machine interface allowing them to be directly polled about issues. Established by a consortium of technologists, cybernetistics and philosophers they had little qualms about using nascent genetic engineering and exowomb technology to rapidly grow into a large city state. Polling cores collate decisions and society overall determines the outcome of prior decisions and dynamically gives those seen as most "wise", more voting power to a carefully controlled degree.
Jefferson (Prospect)

Founded as a pioneer colony on Prospect, Jefferson quickly experienced problems as it was a prime destination for a new religious sect known as the Trinity of Abraham that incorporated elements of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. When Jefferson became independent during the 'great secession', hardline elements of the faith effectively took over, instituting martial law and declaring the Abrahamic Republic of Jacob. The Abrahamic Republic enforced a repressive version of Abrahamic religion, combining the most fundamentalist elements of each religion, into a patriarchal society in which fundamental freedoms were curtailed.
The United States intervened in 2405 with Operation 'Archangel', beginning with a decapitation strike using teletroopers that eliminated the hardline Ministry of Theological Purity who controlled not only domestic security services, but had operational control over the national military.
